The Astrea Snail has a pyramid shaped shell with an olive green color. They given this name because some individuals have projections on their shell that give them a star-like outline. They prefer to feed on hair algae, cyanobacteria, and diatoms on rocks. They do well in aquariums with lots of space and crevices to hide in. They are sensitive to copper-based medication and high levels of nitrate.
