Not Reef Safe
The Blue Porcupine Puffer is rare, unique, and charismatic fish often sought after for its distinctive appearance and engaging personality. However, despite its popularity, this species is not considered reef-safe due to its strong predatory instincts and habit of nipping at corals and invertebrates. With its powerful jaws and ability to inflate itself into a spiky ball when threatened. It is advisable to house Blue Porcupine Puffer in fish-only tanks or carefully select tank mates that can withstand their territorial behavior. Despite their unsuitability for reef setups, these puffers remain beloved by some aquarists for their unique appearance and engaging behaviors.
