The Candy Hogfish is a vibrant reef fish easily recognized by its bright yellow body, faint reddish stripes, and two small black spots, one near the eye and another close to the tail. This species is known for its peaceful nature and adaptability, making it a great fit for aquariums 30 gallons or larger with plenty of rockwork for shelter and exploration. While typically calm, it may show minor territorial behavior toward its own kind, so adding multiple specimens at once is recommended. Though reef-friendly overall, mature individuals may occasionally prey on tiny ornamental shrimp introduced after them. To keep this hogfish healthy and colorful, feed a varied diet of meaty foods like enriched mysis or brine shrimp, along with quality flakes or pellets. Its small size, bright coloring, and easy-going behavior make it a great choice for peaceful reef tanks.
