The Declivis Butterflyfish, also known as the Declivis Butterfly or Marquesan Butterflyfish, is a captivating marine fish known for its subtle yet elegant appearance. It features a white to pale yellow body with a gradient that darkens towards the dorsal area, accompanied by distinctive diagonal black stripes and a bold black spot near the base of the tail. This unique coloration makes the Declivis Butterflyfish a popular choice for marine aquariums. While generally hardy, it is considered reef safe with caution, as it may occasionally nip at soft corals, anemones, and small invertebrates, particularly if not well-fed. To reduce such behavior, provide a varied diet and ensure plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. The Declivis Butterflyfish thrives in well-established aquariums with ample swimming space and stable water conditions, making it a suitable addition for aquarists with some experience.
