The Erectus Seahorse is one of the most sought-after seahorses in the aquarium trade due to its charming behavior and graceful movements. Known for using their prehensile tails to latch onto décor or even one another, these seahorses are social, interactive pets that add personality to any tank. Tank Raised Erectus Seahorses regularly feed on frozen diets and are significantly hardier when kept in appropriate seahorse-specific setups. Their coloration can shift based on genetics, environment, and diet brighter hues are encouraged by vivid hitching posts and a blue background. These seahorses thrive on a steady diet of frozen Mysis shrimp, with supplementary feedings of other small, protein-rich items. Juveniles require feeding multiple times per day, while adults should eat at least twice daily. They are best kept in species-only tanks or with very peaceful, slow-moving fish as they can be injured or outcompeted by more aggressive or fast-feeding tank mates. Avoid placing them with stinging corals or large crabs, which may pose a risk to their delicate bodies.
