Fimbriated Moray Eel
Fimbriated Moray Eel
Gymnothorax fimbriatus
Not Reef Safe
The Fimbriated Moray Eel, also known as the Dark-spotted Moray Eel, is a captivating and predatory marine eel known for its striking appearance and voracious appetite. It features a pale yellow to greenish body adorned with dark, irregular spots, particularly concentrated around its face and along its body, giving it a unique and menacing look. Not considered reef safe due to its carnivorous nature, this eel will readily prey on smaller fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates, making it a challenging addition to a mixed reef or community tank. Best suited for species-only tanks or large predator aquariums with similarly sized or larger tank mates, the Fimbriated Moray Eel requires plenty of hiding spots, such as caves and crevices, to feel secure and exhibit natural behaviors. It is a hardy species that thrives in well-established aquariums with stable water conditions, making it a suitable choice for experienced aquarists who can provide the appropriate environment and care.
