Not Reef Safe

The Gray Angelfish is a striking and durable species prized for its dramatic color changes as it matures. Juveniles are easily recognized by their deep black bodies and bold yellow stripes, while adults develop a sleek silvery-gray body dotted with subtle blue specks and soft blue edging on their fins. Reaching sizes up to 20 inches, this angelfish needs a large, well-established aquarium of at least 250 gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. Though robust and relatively easy to care for, it is not suitable for reef tanks, as it may nip at coral polyps and clam mantles. To support its health and coloration, a varied diet of marine algae, Spirulina, mysis shrimp, and angelfish-specific foods is essential. Depending on its size, the fish may display juvenile, transitional, or full adult coloration. With the right care and space, the Gray Black Angelfish becomes a bold and elegant centerpiece for large fish-only marine aquariums.

These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
