Half Black Angelfish
Half Black Angelfish
Centropyge vrolikii
Reef Safe with Caution
The Half Black Angelfish, also known as the Pearlscale Angelfish, is a distinctive marine fish featuring a unique two-tone coloration. Its front half is a shimmering silver-white with intricate scale patterns, while the back half transitions to a deep, velvety black. This striking contrast makes the Half Black Angelfish a visually appealing choice for reef aquariums. Although it is generally hardy, it is considered reef safe with caution, as it may nip at soft corals and small invertebrates if not adequately fed. To minimize this behavior, provide a varied diet rich in algae and plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. The Half Black Angelfish is an active and inquisitive swimmer, thriving in tanks with numerous hiding spots and a stable environment, making it an attractive and manageable addition for aquarists with moderate experience.
