The Jewel Damselfish is a bold and visually striking species known for its dark body covered in iridescent blue spots that shimmer under aquarium lighting. As it matures, its coloration can shift to shades of brown or yellow, with its spots becoming smaller and less defined. This damselfish is territorial and aggressive, especially toward other tankmates, making it best suited as a solitary specimen in a tank. A minimum of 50 gallons is recommended to provide enough space and reduce territorial stress. Despite its temperament, it is hardy and easy to care for, thriving on a varied diet that includes meaty foods, marine herbivore blends, and high-quality flakes. With its dazzling appearance and hardy nature, the Jewel Damselfish is ideal for aquarists looking for a vibrant, low-maintenance centerpiece provided its aggressive behavior is managed appropriately.
