Keyhole Angelfish
Keyhole Angelfish
Centropyge tibicen
Reef Safe with Caution
The Keyhole Angelfish, also known as the Tibicen Angelfish or Melas Angelfish, is a medium-sized marine fish known for its distinctive coloration and unique markings. It features a dark, nearly black body with a prominent white or pale yellow "keyhole" spot on its side and a similarly colored tail. This striking contrast makes it a visually appealing choice for marine aquariums. While it is generally hardy, the Keyhole Angelfish is considered reef safe with caution, as it may occasionally nip at corals and small invertebrates, especially if not sufficiently fed. Ensuring a diet that includes plenty of algae and other plant material can help mitigate this behavior. The Keyhole Angelfish thrives in tanks with ample live rock for grazing and hiding, making it a suitable addition for aquarists with moderate experience.
