Not Reef Safe
The Mappa Puffer, also known as the Map Puffer or Mappa Toby, is a large and charismatic fish prized for its striking appearance and engaging personality. With its intricate pattern of yellow, black, and white lines resembling a map, this pufferfish is a standout in any marine aquarium. Native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, it requires a spacious tank with plenty of swimming room and hiding spots to accommodate its size and active nature. However, the Mappa Puffer is not reef safe, as it may nip at corals, invertebrates, and even other fish, particularly if not well-fed. Providing a varied diet consisting of meaty foods and occasional shellfish will help satisfy its nutritional needs and reduce the likelihood of aggression. Due to its potential size and dietary requirements, the Mappa Puffer is best suited for large fish-only tanks or carefully monitored setups with compatible tank mates.
