Niger Trigger
Niger Trigger
Odonus niger
Not Reef Safe
The Niger Triggerfish, scientifically known as Odonus niger, boasts a bold and eye-catching appearance with its vibrant blue body adorned with striking yellow markings. However, despite its stunning aesthetics, the Niger Trigger is not considered reef-safe due to its strong predatory instincts and tendency to nip at corals and invertebrates. In a reef environment, this behavior can cause significant damage to delicate coral structures and disrupt the balance of the ecosystem. Therefore, it's advisable to house Niger Triggers in fish-only tanks or carefully select tank mates that can withstand their territorial nature. Despite their unsuitability for reef setups, these triggerfish are still prized by some aquarists for their unique beauty and intriguing behaviors.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
