Chaetodon adiergastos
Not Reef Safe
The Panda Butterflyfish (Chaetodon adiergastos), also known as the Philippine Butterflyfish, is a striking species native to coral reefs across the western Pacific. Reaching up to 8 inches in length, it features a white body with diagonal brown stripes, vivid yellow fins, and distinctive black facial markings, a band over each eye, and a separate dark spot on the forehead. Commonly seen in pairs or small groups while juveniles tend to be solitary and inhabit shallow reefs. With its oval body shape and bold raccoon-like mask, this butterflyfish shares visual traits with other species like the Raccoon and Diagonal Butterflyfish. The Panda Butterflyfish adds both color and movement to large reef aquariums, though it should be housed in a mature setup with stable rockwork and ample swimming space.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
Due to variations within species, your item may not look identical to the image.
