This dramatic and bold appearance makes the Tesselata Eel a fascinating addition to marine aquariums, particularly in larger predator tanks. The Tesselata Eel is not considered reef safe, as it is a carnivorous species that will prey on small fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. Due to its size and predatory nature, it is best suited for species-only tanks or large predator aquariums with similarly sized tank mates. This eel requires a tank with ample hiding spots, such as caves and rockwork, to feel secure and exhibit natural behaviors. The Tesselata Eel thrives in well-established aquariums with stable water conditions, making it a suitable choice for experienced aquarists who can provide the necessary environment and care.
