Undulated Trigger
Undulated Trigger
Balistapus undulatus
Not Reef Safe
The Undulated Trigger, scientifically known as Balistapus undulatus, is a striking yet challenging addition to marine aquariums. With its bold coloration and distinctive markings, this triggerfish commands attention wherever it goes. However, despite its allure, the Undulated Trigger is not considered reef safe. In the wild, it inhabits rocky reefs and lagoons, where it feeds on a variety of invertebrates and small fish. In captivity, this species may exhibit aggressive behavior towards tankmates, particularly smaller or more passive fish, and may also nip at corals and other reef inhabitants. Therefore, it is best kept in a species-specific tank or with other large, aggressive species. While the Undulated Trigger requires careful consideration due to its temperament, its unique appearance and captivating behavior make it a sought-after addition for experienced marine aquarists seeking a lively and dynamic display.
