The Bariene Tang, also known as the Barred Surgeonfish, is recognized for its striking appearance, featuring a body with alternating vertical bands of white and dark blue or black. This tang has a streamlined body and a distinctive yellow tail, adding to its visual appeal. It is an effective algae grazer and is generally considered reef safe. However, it can exhibit some territorial behavior, particularly towards other tangs, so it thrives best in well-established tanks with ample live rock for grazing and plenty of swimming space. The Bariene Tang is a dynamic and attractive addition to medium to large reef aquariums.
