Collection: Hogfish

Hogfish, members of the wrasse family, are distinctive reef dwellers known for their elongated snouts and bold personalities. Named for their pig-like ability to root through sand and rubble, hogfish use their specialized snouts to uncover hidden prey such as mollusks, crabs, shrimp, mussels, and clams. Their feeding behavior, combined with their hardy nature, makes them a fascinating and resilient addition to large marine aquariums.

These fish are fast growers, often reaching up to seven inches in captivity, and require spacious tanks with plenty of swimming room and secure, well-sealed lids. Hogfish adapt well to life in captivity, provided they are given adequate hiding spaces and a varied diet that includes small fish, shellfish, and crustaceans. Their active nature and foraging habits make them engaging to observe in home aquarium settings.
