The Red Stripe Hogfish is a striking species with a vivid red body accented by white horizontal stripes. Peaceful by nature, it adapts well to reef or saltwater aquariums of 50 gallons or larger, especially when provided with ample hiding spaces. Mature hogfish may occasionally prey on smaller ornamental shrimp if added after the hogfish has settled in, so tankmates should be chosen carefully. Their diet should consist of meaty fare such as vitamin-enriched brine or mysid shrimp, supplemented with high-quality marine flakes to keep them healthy and thriving.
