Reef Safe With Caution
The Cherry Grouper is a vibrant and hardy species prized for its striking red and yellow coloration and bold personality. This fish thrives in large, aggressive, fish-only marine systems. Like other groupers, it is a carnivorous predator with a hearty appetite for meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, and fish. Any tank mates small enough to fit into its large mouth will likely become a meal, so care should be taken when selecting companions. The Cherry Grouper can grow quite large in captivity, and therefore requires a spacious aquarium of at least 120 gallons with ample hiding spaces and stable water conditions. When properly cared for, this impressive species becomes a commanding centerpiece fish that adds both color and character to a predatory saltwater setup.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
