Reef Safe With Caution
The Goldbar Wrasse is a striking and energetic species named for the distinct golden bar that separates its vibrant olive-gold head from its purple-hazed, bluish body. Veined with brilliant electric blue markings across the face, this visually captivating fish adds motion and vivid color to any large marine aquarium. The Goldbar Wrasse flourishes in aquariums of 125 gallons or more, where ample rockwork provides space for swimming, hiding, and foraging. While generally reef compatible in terms of not harming corals or live plants, this species can exhibit territorial behavior, especially toward new tankmates. To minimize aggression, it's best to introduce the Goldbar Wrasse as one of the final additions to a community of similarly tempered fish. As a carnivorous species, its diet should consist of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods, along with high-quality marine flakes and pellets. Hardy and visually dynamic, the Goldbar Wrasse makes a bold statement in a thoughtfully maintained fish-only or FOWLR setup.
