Pterogobius elapoides
Reef Safe With Caution
The Japanese Elapoides Goby is a fascinating and rarely imported species from the rocky, temperate shores of Japan, Korea, and the Northwest Pacific. Unlike most gobies that stay glued to the substrate, this semi-pelagic fish hovers gracefully in the water column, scanning for prey while darting between boulders for cover. Juveniles feed on tiny pelagic copepods, while adults prefer benthic amphipods, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. This Goby makes a distinctive and uncommon choice for temperate marine aquariums.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
Measurements are measured from the tip of the head to end of the tail.
