Marine Betta
Calloplesiops altivelis
Reef Safe with Caution
The Marine Betta, also known as Calloplesiops altivelis or the Comet, is a stunning and elusive species known for its deep black body covered with white or blue spots, resembling a starry night. It has a distinct false eye near its tail, adding to its mysterious appearance. Though peaceful and generally considered reef safe, the Marine Betta may prey on small fish or invertebrates, particularly shrimp, so caution is advised in community tanks. Preferring caves and crevices for hiding, this fish thrives in well-established aquariums with ample hiding spots, making it a captivating yet cautious addition to medium to large reef tanks.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
