The Midnight Lightning Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris, designer variant) is a striking fusion of the sleek Midnight Clownfish and the Phantom Clownfish, resulting in a bold, mostly black clownfish accented with electric lightning bolt patterns between the first and second dorsal fins. Most individuals display a jagged, snowflake-like white head stripe, while some lack a third stripe entirely or feature an additional lightning bolt marking in its place. As juveniles, they start out brownish, gradually developing their deep black coloration with age. The final brown hues around the face are the last to darken, revealing a fully transformed and stunning reef inhabitant. Peaceful and hardy, the Midnight Lightning Ocellaris is ideal for community aquariums and can thrive with or without an anemone. These omnivorous fish are well-adapted to a variety of aquarium diets including pellets, flakes, frozen Mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp, making them a beautiful and easy-to-care-for addition to any saltwater setup.
