The Powder Brown x Gold Rim Tang Hybrid (Acanthurus nigricans x Acanthurus japonicus) is a rare and visually striking surgeonfish with a deep brown to purplish body, a signature white facial patch, and vibrant accents of yellow and blue along the fins and tail, this hybrid often features a mix of both parent species' distinctive markings, such as the orange dorsal stripe from the Powder Brown and the elegant wishbone pattern from the Gold Rim. Each individual varies slightly, offering aquarists a unique and captivating specimen. While generally peaceful with other fish, it can be aggressive toward similar tangs and should be housed in a 125-gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of swimming space. A diet rich in marine-based seaweed and algae, supplemented with occasional meaty foods, is essential to support its immune system, coloration, and overall health, making this hybrid an ideal choice for experienced hobbyists seeking a standout addition to their reef tank.
