The Polleni Grouper is a rare and strikingly colorful predator admired for its bold appearance and commanding presence in large marine aquariums. Its body shimmers in shades of green-yellow to rich gold, accented by vivid electric blue striping and yellow-edged fins, while juveniles display a dynamic blend of browns, purples, and orange tones as they mature. Reaching up to 17 inches in length, this species requires a spacious tank of at least 250 gallons, offering ample room for its size, movement, and feeding behavior. Highly aggressive and strictly carnivorous, the Polleni Grouper is best housed in fish-only systems with large, robust tank mates that won’t be mistaken for prey. Its diet should be rich in protein, consisting of items like shrimp, krill, and small fish. A true showstopper, this grouper is ideal for advanced aquarists seeking a dramatic and powerful centerpiece species.
