The Tassle Filefish is a uniquely patterned species known for its subtle camouflage and textured, leaf-like appearance. Its pale body, marked with faint horizontal striping, allows it to blend effortlessly into weedy, rock-covered environments. This docile species thrives in large, well-established aquariums of 150 gallons or more, especially when provided with plenty of natural hiding spots like macroalgae, live rock, and crevices. While generally peaceful toward other tankmates, it may show mild territorial behavior toward similar filefish species. It should be offered a varied carnivorous diet of finely chopped seafood such as shrimp, squid, clams, and fish, along with supplemental frozen algae and vitamin-enriched foods. Frequent feedings, multiple times a day, will support its nutritional needs and overall well-being.
