Elacatinus figaro
Reef Safe
The Yellow Line Goby (Elacatinus figaro) is a bold, colorful nano fish perfect for reef and community aquariums. With a sleek black body, translucent white underside, and two vivid yellow horizontal stripes running from snout to tail, this striking goby adds both visual appeal and personality to smaller tanks.
Though often mistaken for its cousin, the Gold Line Goby, the Yellow Line Goby does not serve as a cleaner fish in the aquarium. Instead, it stands out for its active and confident behavior—often staying in clear view and exploring its surroundings. In the wild, it’s commonly found living in vase or tube sponges, though these aren’t necessary in captivity.
Captive-bred specimens are hardy and adapt well to aquarium life. They should be housed in tanks of at least 10 gallons and are generally peaceful, though they may show territorial aggression toward others of their kind unless kept as a bonded pair. These gobies accept a carnivorous diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, pellets, flakes, and other prepared foods.
Spawning behavior is also common in captivity, with pairs often laying eggs in crevices or shells. With their hardy nature, small size, and vibrant look, the Yellow Line Goby is an ideal addition for aquarists looking to add energy and color to their setup.
These fish are for saltwater aquariums only.
